Baby Shambles At The Concorde 2 In Brighton

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:32 pm

Pete Doherty

I made it to Brighton just in time for the start of the Baby Shambles gig, I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on the show, but for me, of all the times I’ve seen them Brighton was the first time I’ve really thought that they felt 100% like a proper band. After the first three songs I was left thinking that no matter what happens with The Libertines it doesn’t really matter because there are so many great Baby Shambles tracks and everything really is seeming to fall into place. After the gig I missed the train, which I guessed I would because trains from Brighton to London stop running ridiculously early. I wandered back to the venue and went up stairs to find Pete playing acoustic songs to the gathered crowd, there was a really good atmosphere in the room and after everyone left I managed to get a lift back to London (thank you so much Abi!). Oh and BTW when I raised my hand I was professing my Love of Morrissey :-)

Right, I’m off to Brighton in a few hours. Is anyone else going? And does anyone have a floor to sleep on just in case I miss the last train back?

Pete Doherty At Brick Lane Festival 2004

Pete Doherty

A few pictures from Pete in Brick Lane. I had a bit of a weird day because I was up all night sorting photos of The Cribs from last night a Frog, that meant I woke up late and had to rush to Brick Lane, I got there while Pete was playing and because I hadn’t got a pass had to track down someone so I could actually get in, thankfully I found Josh Paddington and The Cribs and managed to catch a good bit of the set and still get some photographs. I really enjoyed the gig and the mixing of ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ with ‘Rubber Ring’ made me smile, I remember a while back talking with Pete and us both agreeing that it’s one of, if not the best Smiths song. Jasmine who runs babyshambles.net has a copy of Pete covering it on one of the CD’s he gave her, but the CD is so scratched it barely plays :-( After the gig I met loads of really nice people, it was a pleasure to see you all! After everything finished I was going to head to the pub with the Paddingtons, Cribs and Mr. Ben Bailey, but instead finally ended up back at Jasmine’s house drinking vodka with Richey which was much fun indeed.

Photographs From Reading Festival 2004

The Cribs

Thank you so much for all of your birthday wishes I had a great day. In return I give you my photographs from Reading Festival, it’s the biggest update I’ve done so far. I do apologise if you are on a dial-up connection as there are 357 images of the whole weekend. I had a fantastic time at Reading, hello again to everyone I met, there were loads highlights, including: tons of free beer and wine, singing Morrissey songs with Zac, Leonie, James and Sarah Rocks (I seem to remember being lifted on to Zac’s shoulders at some point), wandering around drunkenly and having The Cribs dedicate a song to me. Thank you!
